The Renewable Energy Conference & EXPO 2024 (REC24) in Kampala, Uganda, centered on the theme, “Transforming Livelihoods Through Clean Energy Access.” Hosted by the National Renewable Energy Platform (NREP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and other partners, REC24 brought together experts, policymakers, and young leaders to explore the role of renewable energy in fostering sustainable development and climate resilience across Uganda. Love Binti International proudly contributed to these discussions, with our Assistant WASH Manager, Romeo Rolland Businge, serving as a panelist, sharing insights on grassroots climate action and community-focused clean energy initiatives.
During the Youth Dialogue on Climate Action and Clean Energy on Day 2, Romeo joined a panel moderated by Edwin Muhumuza, CEO of Youth Go Green, where he highlighted Love Binti’s impactful projects in clean water and sustainable infrastructure that strengthen local resilience. His reflections on integrating rural youth in climate solutions resonated with attendees, emphasizing the transformative role of youth in driving change at the grassroots level.
Several Love Binti delegates attended REC24, learning from and networking with other like-minded organizations to build on our existing initiatives, such as solar electric cooking. Panelists in other sessions throughout the conference advocated for biofuels, and stressed the importance of climate education to empower Ugandan youth. This conference underscored the critical need for young people to have the resources, knowledge, and advocacy platforms to contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s clean energy and climate resilience goals.
Through REC24, Love Binti International continues to align with East Africa’s Vision 2050, championing climate action and sustainable energy solutions for a better tomorrow.
